Designing and delivering programs to the community in equitable ways to amplify marginalized voices

CRRC has had many programs and services, including but not limited to informal gatherings, BBQ’s, emergency food pantry, Christmas dinners, low barrier toy stores, healthy living activities such as yoga and art therapy. There has been a family drop in, and a day time coffee drop in, in which folks would have access to the free clothing program and emergency pantry. CRRC’s community kitchen program involves nutrition education, childcare and community building as well as a meal. A vibrant community garden.

The CRRC serves an area in North Kildonan with a high percentage of newcomer, Indigenous , lower income and single parent families as well as a significant number of older adults on a limited income. Approximately 300 children between the ages of six and eighteen live in the community; a significant proportion of the children are high needs children or at risk youth.

About CRRC

Our History

CRRC began in 2008 when Jubilee Mennonite Church (JMC) noticed that community children were loitering at the church, but there was nothing for them to do there. From these early interactions, an opportunity was created, and the first JMC community program, J-Club, was born. JMC members felt a call to action, and seeds of hope were planted.
